If you are new to miniature building (or even if you are not) the range of different miniature book nook kits available can be quite confusing. Even within the book nook range, some kits are easier and quicker to build than others.
So that you can make the best choice and select the right DIY miniature kit for yourself or as a gift, we’ve put together this run down on the different types of book nooks, and what to consider when making your choice. Read on to find out more…
Selecting a Book Nook DIY Kit
With the large range of types of book nook kits available it is difficult to know where to start, especially if you are buying as a gift or are new to book nook building. The first place to start is the theme.
1) Theme - Fantasy, including magic and wizardry are popular book nook themes, and there are many different ones to select from and collect. But it is not just all about fantasy. There is certainly plenty of choice whether you are buying for yourself or as a gift for a special person. We have a range of miniatures with themes from favourite childhood books, romantic holiday destinations to cute doll’s house and shop scenes.
2) Size – Book Nooks can vary in size but tend to be the height of a book and the width of two books. So always check the size to make sure the one you want will fit in your bookshelf once it’s built.
3) Difficulty – Book Nook kits have pre-cut pieces and small details that are glued into place and wiring pieced together following a diagram. The book nooks and miniatures in our range, for example Rolife DIY Book Nook Kits, come with pre-cut pieces that can be snapped together and slotted into place (a spot of glue can be used for more stability), pre-printed stickers and pre-set wiring kits are easily slotted into the bottom of the book nook.
Our book nook kits are recommended for teenagers and adults building on their own, or as a family project with younger children.
4) How long do Book Nook Kits take to build? The time it takes to build a book nook kit depends on the level of complexity and your skill set. Some of our miniature doll’s house kits can be built in around 1 ½ hours, whereas some of the larger book nook kits can take from 3 to 5 hours. We recommend taking your time to familiarise yourself with the instructions and different pieces and immersing yourself in the building process.

5) Check the number of pieces. A good indication of how long a book nook or miniature might take to build, or how difficult it might be, is the number of pieces. Book nooks vary from very detailed and realistic to more stylized and simplified designs that are quicker and more straightforward to assemble.
